"The Glad Book, indeed! Even the name might well invite one's derision— were it not for the second thoughts that bid us pause, and look a bit deeper, perchance. 'The Glad Book!' 'The Glad Book!' Surely no one with a grain of sense or wit would deliberately choose such a title as that—for a sober, thoughtful piece of literature! 'The Glad Book!' Why not, then, 'The Merry Tales of the Fun and Frolic Club'? Or, 'The Jolly Stories of Happyland'?"
