Some years ago there came to live in the Green Forest a black stranger . He was really a foreigner, but as he was not a bird of passage, he came to be looked upon as one of the residents . He was a Black Crow, a member of the very smartest family of the Crow family , and he was so different from his neighbors, from those who had always lived in the Green Forest, that everybody noticed him, and everybody wondered who he was.
